I was inspired by the shapes of root vegetables, and the designs of Jombus Designs, to create a lamp centered around the interaction that takes place when it turns on. I created “Light Weight”, a lamp that turns on when you place a weight on it. Although I designed a weight for it, a house key can also be used. I had to make my own circuit to facilitate the interaction, and made a paper sketch model before 3D printing the prototype.
I 3D printed the final prototype in PLA after modeling it on SolidWorks.
I put together my own custom electrical wiring because I couldn’t find a lightbulb with this unique interactive feature. For shape exploration I made a bulb shape out of paper.
