I wanted to model a film camera on SolidWorks, so I chose the Heyday film camera as my model. My goal was to create a product that I could see being sold by Heyday, but with a more fun and Y2K inspired design.

I used calipers to measure each element of the camera t make my model as accurate as possible.

I created a technical drawing of my SolidWorks model that displays all the important measurements if it were to be produced.

My camera features 13 different parts, which are explained further in my exploded view technical drawing and Bill of Materials. I also did a rendering on KeyShot so the materials of each part are displayed.

I came up with 4 official CMFs that the camera could be produced in. I like the original Heyday camera’s purple color, so I wanted to keep it the same color scheme. But I liked playing around with transparent material because it reminds me of Y2K technology, when the exterior shells of tech products would be clear or translucent.

All the hinges, levers, switches, and gears are designed to be functional, which I depicted in these renderings.
I created a KeyShot animation demonstrating all the moving elements of the film camera.
